March 2018 Stitch Fix Review

After a fairly mild winter this year, the past week has been cold and snowy here in Idaho.  I am anxiously waiting for spring to arrive with warmer temperatures and pretty flowers.  March’s Fix was just what I needed this week with a wonderful pop of color that brightened up the gray, dreary weather.  My stylist did an awesome job with this Fix and I was really tempted to keep it all. Absolutely Amazing Chicken Enchiladas

Whenever we eat at a Mexican restaurant, 95% of the time I will order chicken enchiladas.  I do branch out and try new things occasionally, but I know chicken enchiladas are always good.  Through the years, I have tried many enchilada recipes at home and they were good.  Then I came across the recipe for Homemade Red Enchilada Sauce from Gimme Some Oven and all we could say was WOW!  Of course, I made some modifications to it to make it my own, and it is HANDS DOWN the most amazing red enchilada sauce that you will ever taste.  I will NEVER buy another can of red enchilada sauce again because this sauce is so easy and so amazing. 7 Tasks for a Clean Home: February

Well, we are only 2 weeks into February, so I am doing a little better about posting this month’s cleaning challenge. 🙂  This post was supposed to go out last week, and well….. life happened.  As a mom, life is just busy trying to juggle everything-taking care of kids, cooking, cleaning, laundry, running kids to activities, church or community responsibilities, work, etc.  The list goes on and on and on, and sometimes you just need a nap. 🙂

Of course, this is why I started this series in the first place.  All these things take over our to-do list, and areas of our home get forgotten. We might notice these things and say, “I really need to do that sometime”. Add some guilt in there that things are not getting done, and we really start to feel overwhelmed.  So take a deep breath and print out this monthly list (and January’s too if you want).  Then pick ONE item that you can take care of this week and make time to get it done.  Maybe it is just me, but there is a feeling of satisfaction that comes from taking care of something you have been procrastinating.  My whole goal of this series is to help you feel good about accomplishing tasks around your home and making it a little cleaner each week.  Let’s get started with February! As winter winds down, I thought it would be great to do a round-up of my favorite winter items from Stitch Fix.  New to Stitch Fix? It is a personal styling service.  You create a profile with your measurements and then your stylist picks out 5 items to send you.  You can have a box sent automatically every 1-3 months or you can manually choose when you want to receive one.  Keep what you want and return what you don’t with free shipping both ways. To learn more about how it works, check out my post Finding Style with Stitch Fix.   [Read more…]

Blueberry Muffins

Years ago, I saw this pin on Pinterest for copycat Costco Muffins.  We decided to try the recipe for blueberry muffins but had to make some modifications.  I usually only have yellow cake mixes on hand, so we used that instead of a white cake mix.  A few years ago, cake mix companies shrunk the size of cake mixes from 18 oz. down to 15 oz.  To make up the difference, we increased the flour.  Then we added a delicious streusel to the top and our favorite easy blueberry muffins were born. Tile Coasters

Does your counter get overrun with cups? When my kids were small, we went through a lot of cups every day.   I would constantly remind my kids which cup they had and where to put them.  We would end up with cups all over the counter and nobody could remember which cup was theirs. After seeing a few ideas on Pinterest, I decided to make tile coasters for my family a few years ago.  Everyone in the family has a tile and placed it in a special spot in the kitchen.  We have had these tiles for over 5 years, and they work wonders keeping cups off the counter.  This is an easy craft that you can complete fairly quickly, and it will make a big difference in your kitchen (and save your sanity 🙂 ). 10k Blog Traffic Challenge

This post may contain affiliate links. Please see our disclosure policy for details.

There is so much to learn as a blogger.  One of the best resources that I have found is the monthly 10k Blog Traffic Challenge that is offered by Heather and Pete Reese of It’s a Lovely Life.  I mentioned how this challenge helped me in my post-How I increased my Instagram and Twitter followers.  I have participated in this Challenge every month since I started my blog in August 2017 and it has helped me learn how to grow my blog through social media and networking.

The 10k Blog Traffic Challenge is FREE for bloggers and runs for 10 days.  Bloggers can win prizes for participating, but you do need to have a self-hosted WordPress blog to win (learn more about why that is best on my Blog Resources Page).

The focus of the 10k challenge is to teach what tools help a blogger reach 10,000 page views in a month. Every day, they cover a blog topic (social media, email lists, etc) and give a short assignment. In the Facebook group, there is an assignment thread to participate on and a question thread to ask questions about the topic covered.  There is also a directory to connect with other bloggers by niche.

By participating every month and using what I have learned from this challenge, my blog has seen good growth over its first year.  In June 2018, I reached a goal of having a combined total of 10k followers between the four main social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest).  I love seeing my blog continue to grow and would love to have you join me in this monthly challenge.

The FREE June 10k challenge starts Monday (June 10th) so sign up today!
