Well, we are only 2 weeks into February, so I am doing a little better about posting this month’s cleaning challenge. 🙂  This post was supposed to go out last week, and well….. life happened.  As a mom, life is just busy trying to juggle everything-taking care of kids, cooking, cleaning, laundry, running kids to activities, church or community responsibilities, work, etc.  The list goes on and on and on, and sometimes you just need a nap. 🙂

Of course, this is why I started this series in the first place.  All these things take over our to-do list, and areas of our home get forgotten. We might notice these things and say, “I really need to do that sometime”. Add some guilt in there that things are not getting done, and we really start to feel overwhelmed.  So take a deep breath and print out this monthly list (and January’s too if you want).  Then pick ONE item that you can take care of this week and make time to get it done.  Maybe it is just me, but there is a feeling of satisfaction that comes from taking care of something you have been procrastinating.  My whole goal of this series is to help you feel good about accomplishing tasks around your home and making it a little cleaner each week.  Let’s get started with February! My goal was to have this post up last week so everyone could have two weeks to work on it before Thanksgiving. Eek! Do you realize Thanksgiving is 4 short weeks away and Christmas is only a few weeks after that?  While we are all enjoying pumpkins and falling leaves, the holidays are quickly sneaking up on us.  Now is the perfect time to get the house ready for friends and family that will be visiting soon. The next four weeks of this series will focus on getting our home ready for holiday company. Then we will take a break to enjoy the holidays and start again in the new year.  Let’s dive in! The life of a mom is busy.  Whether you work full-time or you stay home, take care of babies or run older kids here and there, life is BUSY.  From sun up to sun down, you have a hundred things to worry about on a daily basis.  Am I right?  It is so easy to get overwhelmed or to let little things go unnoticed.  I have been there. In fact, if you have seen my first two posts in this series (Week 1 and Week 2), you understand that I am still there.  Every week is a work in progress.  Did I do all 7 tasks from last week? I love Fall.  The cooler temperatures, the changing leaves, the excitement of upcoming holidays, and the smell of pumpkin spice. 🙂  When school starts every year, I go into Fall cleaning mode.  I usually don’t do much spring cleaning because I know my kids will be home for the summer.  Fall is a great time to tackle tasks that aren’t done on a weekly basis.

When I was a younger mom, I followed Flylady.net through daily emails (years before Facebook).  Although I haven’t followed her for years, many of the habits I learned stuck with me.  I am excited to launch this new series of posts every Monday: 7 Tasks for a Cleaner Home.  These tasks will be things that tend to be overlooked in our homes.
