Did you notice that I am posting this month’s 7 Tasks in the first week of the month? Yay! 7 Tasks for a Clean Home: February

Well, we are only 2 weeks into February, so I am doing a little better about posting this month’s cleaning challenge. 🙂  This post was supposed to go out last week, and well….. life happened.  As a mom, life is just busy trying to juggle everything-taking care of kids, cooking, cleaning, laundry, running kids to activities, church or community responsibilities, work, etc.  The list goes on and on and on, and sometimes you just need a nap. 🙂

Of course, this is why I started this series in the first place.  All these things take over our to-do list, and areas of our home get forgotten. We might notice these things and say, “I really need to do that sometime”. Add some guilt in there that things are not getting done, and we really start to feel overwhelmed.  So take a deep breath and print out this monthly list (and January’s too if you want).  Then pick ONE item that you can take care of this week and make time to get it done.  Maybe it is just me, but there is a feeling of satisfaction that comes from taking care of something you have been procrastinating.  My whole goal of this series is to help you feel good about accomplishing tasks around your home and making it a little cleaner each week.  Let’s get started with February! Can you believe that we are 3 weeks into January?  How are your New Years goals coming along? I smile each time I see that meme that says January is a trial month, and the year really begins in February.   🙂 [Read more…]

My goal was to have this post up last week so everyone could have two weeks to work on it before Thanksgiving. Obviously, life was busy and that did not happen.  Several readers commented on Week #6 that they wished they had found this series sooner, and I realized that some were feeling behind.  Instead of continuing with week 7, this week is a special holiday edition that focuses on getting everything ready for holiday company.  If you want to read the other weeks in this series, the links will be at the bottom of this post.  Want access to the special holiday checklist? In fact, if you have seen my first two posts in this series (Week 1 and Week 2), you understand that I am still there.  Every week is a work in progress.  Did I do all 7 tasks from last week? Not yet!  BUT, I did print out the printable from Week 2, so I will continue to chip away at those tasks. [Read more…]

I love Fall.  The cooler temperatures, the changing leaves, the excitement of upcoming holidays, and the smell of pumpkin spice. 🙂  When school starts every year, I go into Fall cleaning mode.  I usually don’t do much spring cleaning because I know my kids will be home for the summer.  Fall is a great time to tackle tasks that aren’t done on a weekly basis.

When I was a younger mom, I followed Flylady.net through daily emails (years before Facebook).  Although I haven’t followed her for years, many of the habits I learned stuck with me.  I am excited to launch this new series of posts every Monday: 7 Tasks for a Cleaner Home.  These tasks will be things that tend to be overlooked in our homes.
