Oreo Cereal Treats

Last fall, my daughter was begging me to make rice crispy treats.  They are not my favorite dessert, but I am always happy to make something my kids’ request.  After a pantry search yielded very expired Rice Crispies (gross!), we looked at what else would work.  We had a box of Oreo O’s, so we decided to give them a try.  Super easy and so good! This is now our go-to cereal treat recipe!

Oreo Cereal Treats

3 Tbsp. butter

10 oz. bag of mini marshmallows

1/2 tsp vanilla

6 cups Oreo-O cereal

Measure cereal into a large bowl.  Melt butter and marshmallows in a large saucepan over medium heat.  Stir continuously to evenly melt marshmallows and prevent them from burning on the bottom of the pan. You can use larger marshmallows, but I have found that the small ones melt better and easier.

When the marshmallow mixture is melted, remove from heat and stir in vanilla.  Then, pour over cereal.

Stir to coat cereal.  Spray hands and 9×13 pan with cooking spray.  Pour cereal into pan and press with hands to even out treats.

Allow to cool and then cut into squares.

Very easy and delicious!  As I said above, rice crispy treats usually aren’t my favorite because they tend to taste a little bland to me.  These Oreo Treats are crunchy, gooey, and have a great flavor. Enjoy!
